I offer a range of professional editorial and publishing services, including:

Copyediting
An intensive, thorough review of your work. In addition to checking spelling, grammar and punctuation, copyediting may also involve:

• editing for greater clarity or coherence throughout, such as suggesting changes in wording or in paragraph or sentence structure

• reviewing the way the document has been organised and suggesting improvements for better flow, pacing, effect, clarity, etc

• querying any areas that may be ambiguous or difficult to understand, or which might benefit from further input or clarification from the author

Proofreading
For projects that need a careful, final review before publishing or going live, I’ll:

• check your piece for any errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation or formatting

• ensure that any formal style guidelines have been adhered to and are consistent throughout (such as capitalisation, hyphen use, fonts, heading styles, etc)

• cross-check that page numbers given in the contents and index correspond accurately

Publishing Project Management
I have extensive experience project editing the production of illustrated cookery books. I can help at all stages of the project life cycle, from briefing authors and providing high-quality, sensitive author care throughout to signing off on the final PDFs for a book. Manuscript Review and Developmental Editing
Whether you’ve completed the first draft of your novel (well done!) and are looking to prepare it for submission to an agent or publisher, or if you’re trying to figure out how to structure, revise or simply just get your idea into words, I can provide balanced, constructive feedback on your manuscript or concept. My areas of expertise are fiction (all genres, adult and children’s) and cookery, but I can also help with non-fiction. If I’m not the right fit for your book, I’ll refer you to someone who is, whenever possible.

Style Guides
Consistency across business communications shows professionalism and gives your customers confidence in your ability to deliver. I can work with you to ensure your publications, web content, documentation and other materials, both internal and external, reflect the standard of quality you strive to project.

MY RATES

Every project is different, so my rates may vary depending on the specific work required. However, in general, I base my fees on the recommended minimum rates outlined by the Charted Institute of Editors and Proofreaders. Once we've discussed your project and I've had a chance to see a sample of the text I'd be working with, I can provide a more tailored quote, which you are under no obligation to accept.
